Hispanic theatre predates as early as the 19th century in the San Francisco and Los Angeles area that was made possible by the operatic companies. During this time, railroads were linking major California cities making Hispanic theatre more mobile and accessible than in any other period in American history. These performances gave the Hispanic community a sense of pride for their rich heritage that now a larger audience can appreciate and see. Chicano Theatre had flourished the Los Angeles area by the 1920s and their work included themes of cultural indifferences between the Anglo-Saxons, the Great Depression, and WWII. Hispanic theatre comes from humble beginnings and has already achieved a lot of success on stage and on film that is still recognized to this day when now more than ever the Hispanic voice need to be heard.
